ABOUT FORESTBURG CHURCH OF CHRIST

The Forestburg congregation first met under a huge live oak tree that grew near the site of the old Post Office. In 1882, W.W. Givens, Cam Royal, Tom Dolphit and Barry White built the congregation a building on the northeast side of town. Brother Harris was one of the first preachers. Ike Skinner was the first member added after the building was built. Due to mud being such a problem, the members decided to move the congregation to a new location.
Pete Kuykendall and Will Barclay obtained a lot from Mr. Rodrick with a promise to pay $50.00. Later, when the money was offered, Mr. Rodrick gave them the lot and the congregation moved to the present site in 1920.
In 1947 the building underwent reconstruction with Tex-Crete blocks, butane heat was installed and a modern baptistery was added. A beautiful painting was added which is in the current building today.
In approximately 1968 an addition was built adding restrooms and classrooms as well as a fellowship area.
The congregation today hosts singing nights, gospel meetings and other events in addition to normal worship assemblies and Bible class hours.
